I'm all about helping you get your home ready for the holidays right now...
Here is fun segment I did about turning a mantle in a living room or family room into something special...
Sometimes the simplest places to start decorating your home for the holidays is the room's focal point. In the case of this home - it was the fireplace.
I wanted to illustrate that you can use this focal point to create something your eye is drawn to in the room with a holiday theme - but also have it be easy for your to create.
I loved working the fresh greenery into the design that can be turned around easily and can be done at the last minute too. The garlands can dry naturally and be used beyond the holiday season as well. I added a simple string of white lights into the mix of garlands to add some sparkle - but you could easily do a row of silver candle holders with tapered candles in white for another type of glow.
The silver frames were a nice touch too. I like that the kids can put their own photograph or drawing in their personalized holder - which can be engraved for each family member by Pottery Barn. It's something you can use year after year. I like the idea of a baby photo in each one - even for the parents! The final touch of the velvet stockings blends nicely into the room's existing decor and color scheme.
Simple and classic - you cannot go wrong.
