Minor Changes...

  • Sometimes the spaces we have to work with in our homes - actually have great potential - but it is just a matter of seeing them in new ways in order to figure out what can be done...

  • This was a design project I did in a small living space. The before (below) shows the main entrance in dark wood with a closet beyond.

  • By removing the door frame to the closet - we not only gained the illusion of a larger foyer (above)  but also gained an office nook (which is right around the corner - in what was the old closet).  The draped doorway (above) is access to a smaller version of the closet.  The drapes soften the foyer area a little and give the illusion of more space or a window beyond.

  • Also, changing out the front door from a solid wood door to a frosted window door allows in natural light and also adds to the illusion of more space.   Very key in small spaces.

  • Sometimes simple renovations can make all the difference.
