Homes We Love : In Films...

  • In my book, I talk a great deal about how films have always inspired me creatively...even as a kid. So it is no wonder that even as a grown up - films continue to be a source of inspiration for me.

  • In NO PLACE LIKE HOME I offer up some creative tools that can be used by any homeowner to help them define their personal home design style...

  • Here is an example of a film home that I love (and it is listed in my book along with many, many other film homes that I think are worth checking out)...This home is the featured set of the film "It's Complicated."

  • What can be a useful tool for homeowners is to look at the way the rooms are styled and pulled together...

  • I think this home is a great example of a home that is not too big - yet it works.  The spaces are warm, inviting and comfortable...

  • This kitchen is one of my favorites because it shows how you can be creative with open shelving and unique storage solutions...Something that is worth looking at if you are thinking of renovating your own kitchen...

  • Your home spaces do not have to be too big and still be functional for your everyday living...It doesn't have to be complicated - it's just about working creatively with what you have...

  • With films or TV shows you love, you can look at the homes that you respond to in them and start making notes about what you like about them...

  • Sometimes the simplest ideas or solutions can be so attainable and serve you well in your own home...

  • When you read NO PLACE LIKE HOME I hope that you will be inspired to use film homes as a visual tool to empower your own design journey...Have fun!
