Film House: Howards End

  • In my book, I talk a great deal about how films have inspired my creative work over the years...Since I was a kid, movies have always been a creative tool I have used to tap into my imagination...

  • Even today, I continue to use films to inspire my work as a designer...I'll watch old black and white films, period/costume dramas to modern day comedies...as I'm starting a project...Movies let your mind wander...

  • In the book, I have a list of my favorite must-see films because of the houses featured in each movie...Each has a different style and feel.  That is what inspires me and I believe they can also be a useful tool for you the homeowner...

  • The cottage in this film is on that list because it probably is one of my all-time favorite films because of the attention to detail in it.  You truly feel like you have been transported back to Edwardian England and that is what I love about movies...they can take you away for a time...

  • This film, HOWARDS END, is by the team famous for their period/costume dramas - Merchant Ivory...I love the house in this film because it captures the essence of an English country home...

  • The whole opening sequence of the film is shot beautifully...captures the feeling of what home is all about...
