No Place Like Home - Book Promo Video

  • My book NO PLACE LIKE HOME comes out nationally in February...

  • I am pleased to share the news that the new landing page for the book is now available for viewing and sharing...

  • My publishing team at Wiley has been amazing and they generated this landing page for the book as a great place for you to learn more about the book, see a video interview with me, open up a sample chapter from it - as well as get some further glimpses into some of the photography featured in the book...

  • Of course, the landing page also gives you the links to all those great book stores and locations that will be selling the book across the country - beginning February 22nd...

  • Yes, as many people have asked me - you can pre-order the book ahead of time too...Just go to the link below...

  • The video above is featured on the landing page...Actually some of the footage in it is from a television project I have been working on - which ties in perfectly to what the book is all about and even more...(Note, you will need to pause the music player at bottom of the blog page to listen to this video properly)...

  • Click on the link here to access the new landing page:

Rainy Day Design...

Metal tray with stones - great for wet, rainy day boots
  • A rainy day in late fall, reminds me of how messy mud rooms or entrances to our homes can get...

  • So I thought these visuals might inspire you - just in case it may be raining out there where you are too...

A few pegs and a bench - instant mudroom - note the tray under the bench for shoes

Cubbies for the sports-minded family members

Benches with hidden storage and a clean lined color scheme

Lower pegs for the little ones and a top shelf for the grown ups and the all  important message board

A bucket for umbrellas - seal the base so no water leaks out

A place for everything

Lofty Inspiration...

  • Loft spaces in big cities have always been interesting to me because they can almost be used like a soundstage for a home setting...

  • To me, it would be creative to have an open space with great light - but then have movable walls so you could literally move rooms and furniture around as you wish...A great way of keeping things fresh and new...

  • The other thing we can learn from loft living is that less is more...Less clutter goes a long way whether you have a large, open space or a small space...

  • Sometimes I like to get inspiration from spaces that are very different from my own personal style...You never know what might catch your eye and somehow the idea may migrate into your own home design or layout...

  • As we awaken to frost-covered mornings and snow that is soon to come...it's time to get creative about our inside spaces...more to come on that subject....
