Painted Floors...
- I have always been a fan of painted floors...Some rooms need lightening up and painting the walls is one way to change the look and feel - but some people might overlook painting a wood floor too...
- Most paint companies carry product options for painting floors or, at least, porch floor paint - which I have used on some projects...
- Color options and designs are endless...You could simply paint the whole floor one color or you could create your own style with several colors and layouts...
- Painted floors can be a quick, creative fix to problem floors that have seen better days or if you want to save money on doing a major refinishing at this time...
- For example, if you were selling your home and you had dated wall-to-wall carpeting that needs to be removed - you might reveal wood floors underneath that require some attention...Sometimes painting the floors can give the room (especially smaller rooms) an instant facelift - making the room appear larger, brighter and rejuvenated...
- Another example might be a hallway that is dark without lots of natural light...a painted floor would open up that space...
- These are little things that you can do yourself to make your home better easily...This is something that does not have to break your design budget...
- I have even seen staircases that were faded and looking dated that received clean, crisp white and gray porch paint...The end result really brought attention to the area and honestly gave it a more modern feel...
- I have tackled some painted floors in an old home I used to have...First - I bought a stain blocking primer THE GRIPPER in white that prepped the floor and sealed it from the old stain seeping through... Once dry, I rolled out the final floor paint in white (two coats of the final paint) - the end result certainly made the space seem larger - but it also served to lighten it up too...
