Home Styles I Love...

  • As I was writing my book, I really began to realize how films have inspired me through the years in life and in my creative works...

  • I write a great deal in the book about homes in films and why I think they are worth taking notice of (you'll have to wait and read the book to find out why)...

  • The main home location in Out of Africa is my favorite house style....The photo above show's the real life home of the film's main character Karen Blixen in Africa....This was not the house used in the film but it was very similar in style...

  • As a designer I like different kinds of home styles...This classic Connecticut farmhouse style is from the film Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House...It's a house I will always love.

  • This was a set that was built in the mountains above Malibu in California - made to look like rural Connecticut...The house still stands today and is surrounded by a parking lot and used as park offices...

  • Another style of home I love is this rustic log cabin design...This is from the classic film Leave Her To Heaven...It has a very film noir feel even though it was shot in Technicolor (which makes it look like a watercolor painting)...

  • This cabin set was actually built to look like a cabin on a lake in Maine...The name of the house is "Back of The Moon"...Great name for a house!

  • Just received the galley for my book NO PLACE LIKE HOME a short time ago...You see, even the book's title has a connection to my love of film...
