Creative Seating : Window Seats

• I have always liked the idea of a window seat in a home...

• I like how these window seat options show not only the traditional style but also some that use the idea of a window seat creatively... 

• The seating can serve to create visual interest in a room and invite you into a space...

• They can be found in any kind of room - the living room, family room, master bedroom....even in  a hallway...

• They can have storage underneath in cubbies or drawers...They could even have storage under the seat cushion that is hidden...

• They could be designed as a shelf or ledge with brackets underneath holding them up for a more open, clean-lined look...

• They can be made of contrasting materials and finishes to appear like pieces of furniture or perhaps to simply blend them into the room style...

• The great thing about window seats is that they work for any style home - from country to modern there is a style that works for everyone...

• If you are selling your home - a window seat is certainly a focal point worth drawing attention to...or if you are looking to remodel your home - think about adding some kind of window seat in your renovation...It is a perfect example of something so simple that adds style and visual value to your home...

• In one of the first homes I renovated for my family, I added a picture window where there had been two, small, awning-style windows up high on the wall...By opening up the wall to make room for one, large picture window (5 feet high x 4 feet wide) - we were able to take in an amazing view to the woods...It was like an instant work of art looking out the new window...That became a perfect place for a new window seat...which we enjoyed for many years while we lived there...
